Les statistiques de la FAO prédisent une population mondiale de 9 milliards de personnes d'ici 2050. Dans un contexte de réchauffement climatique et de raréfaction des terres agricoles et des ressources en eau, il nous faudra alors augmenter notre capacité de production agricole de 70%, avec moins d'eau, moins d'intrants chimique, et un sol qui ne sera nécessairement pas meilleur que celui dont nous disposons aujourd'hui. Pour faire face à ce défi à venir, des entreprises commencent à utiliser le tout jeune concept du "Big Data" pour venir en aide aux agriculteurs et les accompagner dans leurs prises de décisions afin de minimiser leurs risques.
